The post mill dates from 1773 and was originally located in Houtem, near Veurne. The municipality of Koksijde bought the mill in 1952, and placed it on the same site as the original Abbey Mill. Its restoration was completed in 1984. To make the mill turn, a wind force of four Beaufort is needed. The mill grinds about 150kg of grain per hour. The flour is processed in two local bakeries.
